Botrytis cinerea is a necrotrophic pathogen causing pre- and post-harvest diseases in at least 235 plant species. It manifests extraordinary genotype and phenotype variation. One of the causes of this variation is transposable elements. Two transposable elements have been discovered in this fungus, the retrotransposon (Boty), and the transposon (Flipper). In this work, two complete (Boty-II-76 and Boty-II-103) and two partial (Boty-II-95 and Boty-II-141) long terminal repeat (LTR) retrotransposons were identified by an in silico genomic sequence analysis. Differential detection of transposable elements between Saccharum species Genet. Mol. Biol.

Cultivars of sugarcane (Saccharum) are hybrids between species S. officinarum (x = 10, 2n = 8x = 80) and S. spontaneum (x=8,2n=5-16x =40-128). These accessions have 100 to 130 chromosomes, 80-85% of which are derived from S. officinarum, 10-15% from S. spontaneum, and 5-10% are possible recombinants between the two genomes. The aim of this study was to analyze the repetition of DNA sequences in S. officinarum and S. spontaneum. For this purpose, genomic DNA from S. officinarum was digested with restriction enzymes and the fragments cloned. Local mutagenic impact of insertions of LTR retrotransposons on the mouse genome ArchiMer

Solitary LTR loci are the predominant form of LTR retrotransposons in most eukaryotic genomes. They originate from recombination between the two LTRs of an ancestral retrovirus and are therefore incapable of transposition. Despite this inactivity, they appear to have a substantial impact on the host genome. Here we use the murine RMER10 LTR family as an example to describe how such elements can reshape regions of the genome through multiple mutations on an evolutionary time scale.
